Site Requirements and Conditions

Site conditions and requirements below are derived from the

Soils Handbook of Tennessee


Prior to General, High or Extra High Intensity soil mapping, the area must have: 

  • All lot corners marked and numbered (visible at the time of mapping) when mapping is done on all lot layouts or area(s) grid staked. 

  • A numbered line stake shall be visible from any point on a particular lot. 

  • On plats corner staked, long lines over 300' in length are to be staked on 200' intervals along the line. 

  • Heavy vegetation removed if it interferes with soil mapping, cleared areas to be mowed shall be maintained until soil map is completed.

  • Wooded lines cleared for line of sight on lot lines and shall be maintained until soil map is completed.

Above are examples of good working conditions.

Fields and woodlands are not overgrown. The sites are passable with ease.

Areas that are overgrown take more time to complete, especially if property corners are not marked.
